Akan AI

Ask a question about the archive. Akan AI searches only published records whose contributors permitted their use, and shows you the passage behind every statement. It is not a general history assistant and will not answer from outside the Vault.

What this does

  • Searches reviewer-approved descriptions, transcripts, and recognized text from published records.
  • Skips any record whose rights statement withholds permission for AI use, even when that record is public. Publication is not consent to be summarized.
  • Shows the exact passage and the place it came from — a page, or a span of a recording — so you can check it against the source.
  • Says when the archive cannot answer, instead of assembling something that sounds like an answer.
